Here is what is going on at JAG.
Legislation:
The new ADA requirements are still scheduled to take effect in April 2027. While the FCC has determined that these requirements do not apply to cable programming, they still apply to online content, including YouTube, Facebook, and websites. Start planning now to ensure you’re ready for the transition next year. Review the Legislative Committee article for specific details.
Membership:
Be on the look out for a survey. We are excited to put together a list of skills each JAG member can share with others. This will create a great resource for members to learn new skills, see how others cover events, and even provide information on where you can get hands-on experience with technology you are looking to purchase.
Conference:
Save the date for May 12 and 13, 2027! And don’t forget to fill out the survey on what you want to see at next year’s conference. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GJLM7WZ. We will also be discussing what you all want to see at the October 28th general meeting. Review the Conference Committee article for specific details.
JAG Awards:
Start getting your videos ready for awards submissions, which will open on January 1st, 2027. The earlier you start prepping your submissions, the bigger and better the awards show can be. Review the JAG Awards Committee for specific details.
External Relations:
Please join us at the League of Municipalities in November. Come by our booth and stop in on our panel discussions. Want to help out at the League? You can always help man the booth for even an hour. Review the External Relations Committee article for specific details.
Production:
Coming next year: JAG station IDs. Show off your support for JAG with short videos telling viewers how proud you are to be a member. We are waiting on a few more exciting announcements before we release these videos to you all, so stay tuned.
Now let me take a moment to remind everyone that we will have an empty seat on the executive board in 2027. This is a great way to help shape JAG and keep the organization going. Board members help shape the budget, events and meeting topics. The only requirement is one monthly meeting with a once a year retreat. I hope you will consider throwing your name in to join the board. The more variety of voices on the board, the more JAG can help our membership.
I look forward to seeing you all online at our virtual meeting on October 28!
