President’s Message: August 2026

by Doug Seidel

The board is working for you

We may be on hiatus with general membership meetings this summer, but the executive board is still hard at work for JAG. We just concluded our annual retreat and reviewed a lot of information. Let me give you a short update on what we have been up to.

Hollywood East:

JAG is actively exploring grant opportunities for the new studios coming to the region while seeking to increase production here on the East Coast. This will most likely come with a closer relationship with the New Jersey Film Commission. We are looking forward to the partnerships that could come from this.

Finances:

JAG had a pretty good year in finances. Membership renewals went well and we had a very successful conference this year. However, as always, things could be better. The board asks everyone to advocate for the organization and support our annual conference. Please invite non-members to attend as well. If you think someone in your IT department or an administrator would benefit from coming, please spread the word.

Focus on the future:

As the world continues to move away from cable as their primary source of information and television, we need to look for ways to expand our reach and stay relevant. You will start to see a focus on over-the-top distribution as well as short-form social-media content. So, we want to help you all meet that demand. Upcoming conference sessions, webinars and roundtable discussions will be centered around these topics to help our membership expand their reach.

Website:

Finally, we addressed our website and its need for more frequent updates. There will be a push to send people to the website for the most updated information. We are interested in finding someone to take on the website updates, since the new responsibilities as president have prevented me from keeping up with the website work. If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out. There may be part-time pay involved.

Thank you to the board for spending the day working on strengthening the organization. Look for these updates and more coming this next year.
